Hi, I’m Rachael, a photographer based in Watford, Hertfordshire, working across Herts, Bucks and North London.
I offer relaxed, natural engagement photoshoots for couples who want beautiful images without anything feeling styled or cheesy! Most of the couples I work with tell me straight away that they’re “awkward in front of the camera” and if that’s you then you’re in the right place!
A couple engagement shoot with me often feels more like an alternative date night than a photoshoot. It’s designed to be a time to walk, chat, laugh, and be yourselves while I capture it naturally. It’s calm, low-key and surprisingly enjoyable, even for couples who started out feeling nervous. You don’t need to dress up, you just need to show up as yourselves.
I’m a friendly, down-to-earth, smiley face behind the camera, and my I see it as my job to create photos that feel genuine to you — the kind you recognise yourselves in, rather than something that feels overly styled.

The Couple Photoshoot Experience
From the first message to the final images, I aim to make your engagement photoshoot feel simple, relaxed and genuinely enjoyable — especially if you’re not used to being in front of the camera.
BEFORE THE SHOOT
Getting started is straightforward. You can get in touch via my contact page to book a standalone engagement photoshoot, or — if you’re already planning your wedding — you can add one on to your wedding photography package.
Once your session is booked, I’ll guide you through the practical details so you know exactly what to expect. We’ll choose a location that means something to you, whether that’s where you live, where you first met, or somewhere you love spending time together. Many couples also choose a setting that’s different from their wedding venue, giving them a separate set of images that feel more everyday and personal. I’m always happy to help you think through locations and timing so everything feels easy and unforced.
DURING THE SHOOT
Engagement shoots last around one hour and are designed to feel relaxed and informal. There’s no pressure to pose, perform, or know what to do — I’ll gently guide you where needed, but most of the session is about walking, chatting, and just being yourselves. My aim is to get you to forget you’re being photographed!
AFTER THE SHOOT
After your couple photo session, I definitely suggest you continue your wonderful date night by going out for dinner and drinks in one of the many lovely Hertfordshire pubs! I will go back to my office and work away to carefully edit your images in true-to-life colours, keeping everything natural and consistent with my style. Within four weeks, you’ll receive a private online gallery where you can view and download your final photographs.
All edited images from your couple photoshoot are included in the package price, so there’s no need to choose favourites or worry about missing moments. You’ll also have the option to order prints or albums afterwards if you’d like something to keep or display, but there’s no obligation — digital files are always included.
