If your children aren’t particularly keen on sitting still, smiling on command or wearing an outfit they’ve never worn before, you might be wondering how you could possibly capture those magical Christmas family photos everyone else seems to get each year!

But, I’ve got good news – my Christmas Family Photoshoots in Croxley Green don’t have to involve matching pyjamas and sitting on the sofa!

My Christmas seasonal photoshoots on Croxley Common Moor are something a bit different. For 30 minutes we’ll spend time outdoors, taking in the winter air, and just walking, playing, exploring and generally enjoying being together – all with a touch of festiveness thrown in!

Why have a Christmas photoshoot outdoors?

I know that when you think about Christmas photographs, you might picture a studio, a Christmas tree and everyone in matching outfits.

And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that if that’s your thing.

It’s just not really my thing. I love Christmas time outdoors because you get that cold outside, warm inside feeling, those glowing cheeks, and that gorgeous winter light. There’s room for children to show off their personalities. Croxley Moor is one of my favourite local places for outdoor family photography in winter because it gives us an amazing wintry landscape as the backdrop for the photos.

What should we wear for our Christmas photoshoot?

You don’t need matching outfits and you definitely don’t need to buy a whole new wardrobe.

First of all, wear something you feel comfortable moving around in and that feels like you. Then think winter – layers and warmth. Cosy jumpers, jeans, boots, coats, hats, wellies – whatever works for your family.

And if you want to add a little bit of Christmas festiveness, go for it. A festive jumper, a Santa hat, a bit of tinsel or splashes of red and green can work beautifully.

I also encourage bringing hot chocolate in a flask with a few camping mugs. We can have a little hot chocolate stop during your session, so it’s less like a photoshoot and more like a lovely little Christmas adventure together.

You will receive a full preparation guide to help you plan for your shoot, and afterwards you’ll receive your images in time for the 1st December – so lots of time to turn them into Christmas gifts and cards, with lots of options to choose from through your gallery.
