I was thrilled to be a Vanstone Park Wedding Photographer in June for the wonderful Euan and Kejal. Vanstone Park is home to Country Tipis and is a great setting for a wedding, with enormous space to get creative and give your day that extra something that’s a bit different to your usual wedding.
That is exactly what Euan and Kejal did. On our first chat I knew I wanted to be their Vanstone Park Wedding Photographer from the moment they said We’re not having a first dance, we’re having a First Axe Throw!”
The list of unique things kept going on – they really wanted just a big, fun festival day for their guests. With a beautiful fusion of Scottish and Hindu traditions (with a little Harry Potter thrown in) it really was just the most gorgeous day to be a part of and to photograph.
The day started with setting up for the outdoor ceremony – I love how determined Euan was that this was going to be outside – we were all anxiously watching the dark rain clouds overhead! And when the heavens opened just after all the cushions had been put out, nobody panicked – the team rushed off to get some dry ones and everybody pitched in replacing them all! And I’m so glad they did as the ceremony was beautiful (with only one small rain shower in the middle). A beautiful Hindu wedding ceremony followed by some wonderful Scottish traditions and then lunch for everyone!
After lunch, a small break in the day for everyone whilst the evening fun was set up. Axe throwing by Go Wild Activities and Clayzer Pigeon Shooting set up across the large field, plus a tug of war, an arts and crafts area meant guests wouldn’t know which activity to choose next.
Euan wanted to surprise Kejal with a flare entrance on her return to the park. Guests arrived and lined up with the flares and Kejal was surprised with them as she came around the corner with Euan. Then on to the ‘First Axe Throw’ and the festival began!
The day ended with some food from food vans and so much dancing in the gorgeous Tipi tent.
