A Hertfordshire Pub Wedding in September at the Elephant&Castle, Amwell

The Elephant&Castle pub in Amwell is a hidden gem and is a great location for a Hertfordshire Pub Wedding. It was recently finalist for the best pub garden and best rural pub awards 2023, and I thought it was the most beautiful setting for Romaine&Flora’s September wedding. I am a little biased, as I got married in a pub (the glorious Bridges in Shropshire Hills) but I do think a pub makes a great wedding venue – if only because you get to go back there again and again on your anniversary!

Romaine&Flora had worked closely with the team at the Elephant&Castle to come up with their perfect day. Choosing a humanist celebrant meant that they could have their ceremony outside in the pub garden as they wanted it – under the shade of a beautiful old tree. With readings from friends and vows just as they wanted them, it was a totally unique and special ceremony all about Romaine&Flora.

Once the ceremony was over, we put a bit of time aside for some couple photographs in and around the beautiful gardens of the pub. I always like to take my couples off for a few peaceful moments after the ceremony because I really think you need a bit of time together to pause and process what just happened – you got married! And because you need to chat and catch up on the mornings preparations – you may not have seen each other all day!

Romaine&Flora had planned a fabulous meal for their guests and the teepee tents at the Elephant&Castle pub made a great reception area for their guests. They were decorated beautifully with dried flowers and fairy lights and my favourite part – a lampost! A close friend of the couple had put together a quiz about Romaine&Flora which was great entertainment for all the guests.

Romaine&Flora only wanted pictures of the ceremony and a few of their family, so once they were all sat down and eating I dissapeared – I am super fleixble with my hours so if you are looking for smaller coverage of your day then do get in touch here and I can give you a bespoke quote.
